Vancouver, BC

This food garden installation featured a back deck set up with 6 galvanized planters and custom cedar trellises with fall/winter food and colour. The front garden featured native and pollinator friendly plants, drought tolerant ground covers, and of course - food! Both front and back featured automated irrigation systems with drip line.

Featured Plants: Vine Maple ‘Pacific Fire’, Osier Dogwood ‘Red Arctic Fire’, Osier Dogwood ‘Yellow Arctic Fire’, Bunchberry, Vancouver Jade Kinnikinnick, Woodland Strawberry, Creeping Evergreen Raspberry, Salal - Evergreen Huckleberry, Blueberries (multiple varieties), Gooseberry, Boysenberry, Deer Fern.

Port Coquitlam, BC

This is one of the largest projects we have done! This was a full scale re-do, with the aim of creating space for people, plants, and the local pollinators! Featuring 9 cedar raised garden beds built into the outer wall, planted with a mix of vegetables and herbs plus 3 semi-dwarf varieties of fruit trees! There are two mounded beds created near the house that are planted with native edible and medicinal shrubs and perennials like echinacea, rudbeckia, choke berry, salmon berry, honeyberry, thornless blackberry, and more! Two metal planters were installed in the back yard, and the the whole property got covered in mulch for low maintenance. All the beds and planters had drip irrigation systems installed for easy watering.

Vancouver, BC

This project featured 2 large enclosures, built using 2”x 2” cedar, stained with a water based brown stain. These enclosures are to help minimize rodent damage, and keep out certain larger insect pests. They were retrofitted onto our clients existing planters (not built by us). The enclosures have hinges and handles to lift easily off when access is needed.

Vancouver, BC

This project featured three cedar raised garden beds - stained with a semi-transparent water based stained, and sealed with tung oil for long term life and safe food production. Two archways were also custom built and stained, and will be uses for growing vining/vertical food crops like cucumbers, tomatoes, peas, and beans. Premium vegetable blend soil was installed and is ready to grow!

This section features 3 smaller projects that all took place in Vancouver. We installed a blend of different raised cedar planters, planted up with a range of flowers, herbs, and vegetables.

Vancouver, BC

This project was a full scale front yard redo, turning what was previously a grass lawn, into a gorgeous permaculture style food garden! Featuring multiple fruit trees (semi dwarf varieties of apple, cherry, persimmon, and fig), native edible shrubs (gooseberry, salmonberry, and serviceberry) and also blueberries, raspberries, plus perennial crops like asparagus. Native shrubs helping to promote our local wildlife were planted, including but not limited to pacific nine bark, red osier dogwood, multiple coneflowers, bleeding heart, and columbine. We also installed a cedar garden bed sealed with tung oil for safe food production. We can’t wait to see how this food garden establishes!

White Rock, BC

This backyard redo utilizes what was previously a lawn, and created a brand new clover lawn, and two new mounded garden beds that are pollinator friendly, productive for the clients, and aesthetically pleasing.

East Vancouver, BC

This project featured 8 cedar raised garden beds, coated with a semi-transparent water based stain from Benjamin Moore. Each planter has it’s own custom built trellis - also built using cedar and coated with the same semi-transparent stain. The base was created using 4”x4” timber and pea gravel for a simple but effective seating area. The outside boulevard was planted with a mix of perennials, flowering shrubs, garlic, and berries (Saskatoon berry, blueberries, service berries, and black currants). Plus, 2 dwarf black Spanish figs, 1 dwarf sour cherry, and 1 dwarf Asian pear. The west bed was centred around 1 Magnolia ‘Golden Gift’, and the East with 1 Katsura ‘Hanna’s Heart’. The farthest boulevard will be sown with wildflowers come late winter. In the Spring, this garden will be planted with an array of herbs and vegetables. Stay tuned!

South Surrey-White Rock, BC

This install is one of our flagship projects, that exemplifies the opportunities for under-utilized spaces. This project featured 7 cedar raised garden beds, coated with a semi-transparent black stain, planted with a mix of vegetables and herbs. Each planter was equipped with either black metal trellises, or custom pine obelisks coated with a transparent top coat for indeterminate tomatoes, peppers, beans and peas. Three brand new beds were formed, and planted with a mix of native perennials, edible shrubs (blueberries, and raspberries), edible perennials (strawberries, horseradish and asparagus), and 5 fruit trees (plum, pear, fig, apple, and cherry). A flagstone pathway and patio was interplanted with creeping thyme, and the remaining area was sown with micro-clover.

North Vancouver, BC

This project featured 5 cedar raised garden beds custom built from our 2023 BC Home + Garden Show. These planters were built using 2”x 6” dimensional lumber, and stained using a ‘burnt wood’ finish for a dark look that still shows off the grains of the cedar. One large obelisk was also installed, built using pine, and topped with a clear coat to seal from the elements. An automated irrigation system was set up using 1/4” drip line, and the space was planted with a mix of fruits, vegetables, and herbs for the clients to enjoy!

Port Moody, BC

This project featured a small shade garden in the front yard, and 3 fibreglass planters on the back deck. The deck was planted with strawberries, radishes, Swiss chard, and spinach - a mix of herbs were planted as well. The front yard was planted with shade loving perennials.

2023 BC Home + Garden Show

This gallery features photos from our booth at the 2023 BC Home + Garden Show. This years booth included multiple planters built using 2” x 6” cedar and stained with burnt wood. The obelisks are crafted from pine and cedar peaks. Herbs and vegetables were planted in each of the planters with a mix of native perennials and conifers around the outside.

2023 Vancouver Fall Home Show

Feature Garden, Vancouver Fall Home Show featuring in-ground planters, espalier apple trees, corn, kale, and leafy greens. The boardwalk is built using cedar planks, and the fence is recycled split rail timber.

Vancouver, BC

This small installation was a food garden revamp. The grass area was covered with fabric and composted bark mulch. The garden beds were planted with tomatoes, zucchini, kale, broccoli, strawberries, blueberries, beets, carrots, beans, lettuce, spinach, and celery. Supports were brought in to support the vining crops.

2022 BC Home + Garden Show

This was our flag ship project that demonstrated how growing food can be as productive, as it is beautiful. Featuring 4 cedar planters with a coat of honey stain, filled with a mix of herbs, vegetables, and fruit. Also featured is a custom cucumber and tomato trellis for growing vertically, and an arbor for climbers.

Surrey, BC

Installation of 4 raised cedar garden beds, with a mix of premium garden soil, container mix, and composted bark mulch. Clear cedar 2”x 2” was used to create supports for indeterminate tomatoes, cucumbers, and melons. Still to come, a Fall planting including roots and brassicas!

New Westminster, BC

Installation of 5 raised cedar garden beds, with a mix of premium garden soil, container mix, and composted bark mulch. One espaliered apple tree with two varieties was planted along side two grape vines (one red and one green). A mix of herbs were planted in the middle planter, and a Fall crop of brassicas and roots sown.

Port Moody, BC

Installation of a tiered food garden with 2 planters, an arbor, and cedar trellis for tomatoes and cucumbers all custom built from cedar. Come Summer, a mix of fruit, herbs, and vegetables will be planted along side their companions!

White Rock, BC

This install was on the 22nd floor in White Rock, and featured 5 fruit trees (2 apple, 2 plum, and 1 cherry) plus an addition of a new concrete grey planter and metal trellises, annuls and perennials, 2 herb pots, and a mix of vegetables were sown!

Surrey, BC

This install was in Surrey BC, and featured one of the largest planters we’ve built! This cedar planter is 3’ x 9’ x 30” and is stained with Arbor coat from Benjamin Moore. A false bottom was used for potential movement to keep weight down. Lastly, it was filled with a mix of garden soil (bottom layer), container mix (middle layer), and compost (top layer).

This install was on the 3rd floor of a downtown walk up in English Bay. Featuring 4 different varieties of apple trees, 2 varieties of blueberries, ever-bearing raspberries, a mix of native perennials, herbs, and some evergreen shrubs to tie it all together.

Installation of 4 cedar raised garden beds, bamboo supports for beans and hot peppers, a cedar trellis for tomatoes, and a mix of fruit, herbs, and vegetables along side their companions!

Port Moody, BC

This multi tired food garden installation was in Port Moody, BC. It features 4 fruit trees (2 columnar apples, 1 fig, and 1 cherry), 15 raspberries and 15 blueberries, a mix of native perennials were planted, wildflowers were sown, and a mix of herbs and vegetables sown along side to try for a winter crop!
